HIV/AIDS
For those convinced that HIV/AIDS is a disease affecting only gay men and
intravenous drug users, it is clearly not. The precious girls below, Arupe Faith and
Rebecca, both are infected and due to no fault of their own.
They are also unfortunate enough to have lost parents to the disease, leaving
them orphans.
Fortunately for Arupe Faith and Rebecca, they are now living in the Beat the Drum orphanage,
run by Glory Outreach Assembly - Kenya (GOA), which Partners for Care has
been blessed to support and be a part of.
Partners for Care is supporting the Kenyan government's HIV/AIDS testing and
awareness initiatives by providing training, and funding social workers, nurses, and
HIV/AIDS Counselors who aggressively pursue opportunities to test Kenyan people.
Partners for Care is aligning its work in the dedicated resources and
strong leadership of Glory Outreach Assembly - Kenya, which
has a foundational pillar of service known as "HIV/AIDS Awareness and
Caring for the Infected and Affected".
By aligning Partners for Care supported Social Workers with the local GOA
church, we are endeavoring to eliminate the needless spread of HIV infection from
the pregnant mother to her unborn child. Since the local church is aware of pregnant
women in the local villages, the Social Workers and HIV/AIDS testing staff are better
equipped to identify pregnant women, establish their HIV status, and if HIV positive,
arrange for the mother to receive the inexpensive medicine necessary to prevent transmission
of the disease to her child.
Partners for Care is currently sponsoring a "what
if?" campaign in Kenya. This campaign delivers a
message of HIV / AIDS information, prevention, testing, and
care- with a goal of reaching one million people in 2009. The
Partners for Care worship team, Temples of Worship, perform at
these events, drawing large crowds to hear the message and
providing opportunity to provide HIV testing and counseling for
as many people as possible. For more information on the
"what if?"
campaigns, click here.
Partners for Care has been instrumental in improving the HIV
testing and counseling processes applied within Kenya -
introducing the Kenyan National AIDS Control Council to oral
testing methods, and to large scale testing programs. Pictured
below is Partners for Care founder Connie Cheren, participating
in the World AIDS Day testing activities on December 1, 2007.

How you can help
Contact Partners for Care to learn about ways you can support
the children and staff at Beat the Drum Children's Home, or
join us on a short term mission trip to work at this special
place, and perhaps participate in a "what if?" event. You may want to host a "what
if?" dinner in your home or community, in
order to raise funds for Partners for Care HIV / AIDS work.
We would be pleased to attend an provide a brief
presentation about the work we are supporting, and/or
provide you with pictures and videos to use during your
dinner.
